Kristin Umstead is a Forensic Toxicologist and Toxicology Section Chief for the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences (ADFS) in Hoover, Alabama. As Section Chief, she oversees the day to day operations of the toxicology laboratory, manages productivity, participates in method development and validation, and provides expert testimony. Mrs. Umstead has over nine years of experience in forensic toxicology. She received her Bachelor of Science in Forensic Chemistry from the University of Mississippi and is certified as a Diplomate in Forensic Toxicology through the American Board of Forensic Toxicology (D-ABFT-FT). Mrs. Umstead is a member of the Society of Forensic Toxicology (SOFT) and the Alabama State Association of Forensic Sciences (ASAFS). She serves as a member of the SOFT-AAFS Oral Fluid Committee and as the Membership Chair for ASAFS.
