Robert M Lockwood, PhD, F-ABF Bio

Dr. Lockwood has worked for the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences since 2020. As a toxicologist he is tasked with analyzing submitted biological evidence for the presence of alcohol and other drugs. Along with casework, he assists with research and training. Prior to moving to Alabama, he worked for the State of Connecticut contributing to both the toxicology and breath alcohol departments. He holds board certification as a Fellow of the American Board of Forensic Toxicology. Dr. Lockwood holds a Master’s of Science in Forensic Science from the University of New Haven and earned his Ph.D. in Forensic Medicine and Sciences from the University of Verona in beautiful Verona, Italy. He is a frequent presenter at regional and national scientific meetings and is a member of the Applied Analytical committee of the Society of Forensic Toxicologists (SOFT). On the weekends, he enjoys watching sports and having a “flight” at one of Birmingham’s numerous craft breweries.
