Doctor Edward Reedy is a Maryland native. He attended Saint Mary’s College of Maryland, earning a Bachelor of Science in Biology in 1979. He went on to attend the University of Maryland at Baltimore Graduate School earning a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Human Pathology in 1990. Doctor Reedy entered the U.S. Navy in 1991 as a Lieutenant in the Medical Service Corps. In 1994, he was accepted and matriculated to the Uniformed Services University School of Medicine and graduated with a Doctor of Medicine degree in 1998. After serving an overseas tour aboard the USS Kitty Hawk (CV-63) in Yokosuka, Japan, he completed a residency in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology, which was followed by a fellowship in Forensic Pathology Fellowship at the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology from 2005–2006.

Dr. Reedy served with the Armed Forces Medical Examiner System as a forensic pathologist in various roles from 2006 – 2015, including the Regional Armed Forces Medical Examiner (Pacific), the Head, DoD DNA Registry, coordinating services in both the Armed Forces Repository of Specimen Storage for Identification of Remains (AFRSSIR) and the Armed Forces DNA Identification Laboratory (AFDIL). Just prior to retirement, Dr. Reedy served as the Science Director for the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency (DPAA) where he identified U.S. military personnel from past conflicts. Doctor Reedy retired from the U.S. Navy in 2017 with the rank of Captain after more than 26 years of honorable service. The Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences in Montgomery, Alabama currently employs him as a full-time practicing Forensic Pathologist.

Doctor Reedy is licensed to practice Medicine in Maryland, Virginia, and Alabama, and is Board Certified in Anatomic, Clinical and Forensic Pathology. He maintains active memberships in several medical professional organizations and is a Fellow of the National Association of Medical Examiners. He is the author of many peer-reviewed scientific publications.
