Dr. Jason Linville enjoys teaching and advising students who are interested in pursuing a career in forensic science. He teaches forensic science overview courses and several forensic biology/DNA courses. He is a good person to contact with any questions about getting started in the forensic science field. He often advises students about the differences between crime scene work and laboratory work.

Dr. Linville has supervised many graduate students completing research projects on a variety of forensic science topics. His main research interest lies in forensic DNA analysis, including the effect of environmental conditions on evidence and the development of custom STR multiplex reactions. He also has a passion for online education and is interested in research projects measuring effective teaching methods.

Dr. Linville lives in Birmingham with his wife and son. He enjoys discussing education, technology, and the arts, including television. He really enjoys discussing predictions about the future.
